Happy 6th Birthday, Pumpkin

My little daughter is 6 today. The photo above was actually taken last week but I love it so much that I decided to use it for this post. She has lost another tooth since then, which is the upper third one from the right, so the gap is now wider, but she is still my cute little pumpkin. How time flies. It feels that it’s only yesterday when I changed her diapers.

Hello everyone,

Remember about my post on the facebook fan page about me looking for babies to photograph? I have one now. Yay !!
She was just born 2 days ago and am looking forward to meeting up with her for a photo shoot once she is home. Hopefully by the end of this week.

In the meantime … this is one to share … bubbles!

A Girl and Her Teddy Bear

Everybody has their own favorite toy, I am sure. Be it a golf club, a vintage car, a sport car, a Nikon, a Canon, an LV, a Coach or anything …

Do you remember what your favorite toy was when you were 4 years old? I hope you do.

On her first birthday in 2006, I gave my daughter a small brown tedy bear, which she has liked and become her favorite toy until now. She is going five in few months. I am not sure how long that bear will last .. but I am sure the photos will last for a long time for my daughter to see when she is older. Hopefully she will see it together with the bear.

If you want to see how that bear looked like when she first got it, see here on my personal blog that I have been maintaining as her diary of growing up : Nina’s first birthday. It was a long blog entry as it was meant to be a recap of the first one year. Scroll down to the third picture from the bottom. The bear still looked new and shiny then.

So, if you have not done it yet, please bring out your camera now and start taking images of your children’s toys or your children’s first shoes or slippers. It’s digital, so it’s cheap, You can take as many pictures as you want from many different angles. And have fun.

Preserving Childhood

Quoting part of what Mark Twain said, “twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do … “. So, if you can spare some time to be away from your busy corporate world to do things to preserve the childhood memories of your children, by all means, do it. Just to name a few, you can take pictures, write their diary, collect small things that remind you of their memorable childhood, such as the stubs of entrance tickets to the ferris wheel or the zoo, and making a scrapbook.

And if you choose to make a scrapbook, just remember that you have the option to do it digitally rather than the traditional way of paper, scissors and glue. I am sure the traditional way will give some people a lot more satisfaction, but to those who would like to do it digitally, just remember that the option is there. Enjoy and have fun preserving the childhood memories of your children.

Photographing Childhood

Childhood is so valuable and so much fun that we must not let it pass unrecorded and forgotten. I have photos of me when I was a baby, a toddler and a young kid. But not a whole lot even though they do help me to see how I was when I was at that age.

Since I became a father in 2005, I realized how wonderful it was to record moments after moments of my daughter growing up. Her giggle, laughter, cries, play and many other things are too valuable to let them pass. So I have been taking a lot of photos of her which I hope will become her treasures when she is grown up and understands about all these. And for myself, they will certainly bring back lots of wonderful memories when I look at them again 20 years from now.

I am doing this out of love and passion in photography, but most importantly, I want to see that wonderful memories of my daughter’s childhood in the form of well executed and unforgettable photographs many years from now.

And I want to do that for you too.
